The Online Retailer Conference & Expo returned to Sydney’s ICC for the first time since 2019, highlighting the industry's future through an extensive exhibitor directory and conference agenda covering topics from sustainability to the rise of the conscious consumer.

The sold-out event brought together thousands of visitors across two days for yet another record-breaking year featuring new and familiar faces from across the industry. Taking into account the main challenges and trends currently being faced, the event also took careful consideration into the effects of the pandemic, including digital transformation, combating talent shortages, supply chain management, and how to improve the customer experience

Speakers included the likes of Emma Lewisham (Co-Founder, Lewisham Skincare), Michael Gillespie (Group Chief Digital and Experience Officer, Domino’s), Samantha Law (Senior Digital Growth & Innovation Manager, AJE), Ben Pronk (Managing Partner, The Resilience Shield), and Rocky Scopelliti (Futurologist), offering a unique insight to their respective roles and the initiatives being undertaken.

This was also the first year that a dedicated B2B conference track was introduced, highlighting, in particular, the roadmap to digitalisation and how to leverage technology to grow a B2B enterprise.

Exhibitors were also given a key opportunity to reconnect and network after two years of disruptions with the latest and greatest in attendance from Uber Eats and DoorDash to Afterpay and Shopify.

Robin Marchant, Director of Marketing APAC for Shopify, said, “It’s been fantastic being back out in the community face-to-face with all of our retailers and partners, and there’s been no better environment than Online Retailer to help reconnect and plan for the future together”.

Lucas Groeneveld, Regional General Manager for Uber, added, “Being able to connect with retailers and peers across the industry has allowed us to showcase the propositions we’ve been building for e-commerce and last-mile fulfilment, and we’re looking forward to coming back to the Online Retailer Conference and Expo next year”.

Finishing on a high, the event concluded with the annual Australia Post Online Retail Industry Awards (ORIAS), commending those that have excelled in the industry across a range of categories and recognising the hard work and dedication of the top e-commerce retailers.
