Australia Post is partnering with Doddle to bring Collect & Return to online shoppers in Australia. The collaboration aims to extend its 'extensive network' of collect and return options and locations throughout the country.

The Australia Post Collect & Return TM platform allows shoppers to collect or return their goods bought online at a myriad of Post Offices, 24/7 parcel lockers, supermarkets, department stores and pharmacies nationwide.

The partnership includes an existing network of over 4,300 Australia Post offices, 350 parcel locker locations and 15,500 street posting boxes to ‘make it even easier for customers to choose where and when they collect and return their online shopping’.

“We are determined to provide our customers with services that make their online shopping experience seamless and even easier to access,” explained Ben Franzi, the Australia Post General Manager Parcel and Express Services/Intermediaries. “We’re excited to be working with Doddle and retail partners to give customers the flexibility they’ve been after, the ability to collect and return parcels when and where it suits them.”

For customers, they are able to choose the spot that is most convenient for them, thanks to the map offered by Doddle’s technology. Notifications will also be sent to the customer when their parcels are ready for collection.

The first customers of this platform include Booktopia and Peters of Kensington, which will be an available option for online shoppers in early 2020. For those who need to return, it will be ‘quicker and easier, with shoppers able to register returns online which will generate a barcode for them to present in-store, without needing to print a label’.

Doddle is a ‘pioneer in e-commerce collect and returns’. The company is privately owned by Travelex founder, Sir Lloyd Dorfman CBE. Its CEO of Doddle Asia-Pacific, Justin Dery, said that ‘combining Australia Post’s unrivalled delivery network with Doddle’s parcel collect and return technology, creates a major step-change in the Australian e-commerce delivery landscape’.

“‘Pick-up’ services are the fastest-growing delivery option globally and with 35 per cent of Australian consumers picking up an online order last year, the potential in this market is huge,’ Mr Dery explained. “We look forward to working with Australia Post to provide greater convenience to consumers and support online retailers with delivery solutions that drive customer loyalty.”
