BoozeBud acquired by Hairydog Group
Aussie owned and operated liquor company Hairydog has purchased BoozeBud with a relaunch to go live this weekend.
Boozebud has been rescued from collapse by fellow online liquor retailer Hairydog. In what the company deems a ‘significant leap forward for Australia’s independent, online liquor retail industry,’ Hairydog Group has today announced the acquisition, effective from Friday May 26, with a website relaunch due to go live as soon as this weekend.
“Through this acquisition, we’re not just expanding our business footprint, we’re strategically aligning the strengths of BoozeBud’s advanced ecommerce capabilities with Hairydog’s proven retail expertise,” said Ryan Agar, Head of ecommerce for the Hairydog Group. “This merger of two brands creates a powerhouse that is set to transform the online liquor retail space to provide better drinks and experiences to our customers.”.
The latest acquisition is poised to boost Hairydog Group’s annual revenue beyond the $75 million threshold.
Founded in 2020, Hairydog was developed in lockdown with the vision to ‘bring the bar experience to your kitchen bench, through curating unique cocktail bundles, sourcing rare liqueurs and spirits and providing craft beer and wines all at the best prices.’ The momentum has continued for the group with warehouse distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide hosting over 6000 products. In May 2022, the group purchased Liquor Emporium parent company S&P Liquor Group. Under that agreement, Hairydog and S&P Liquor remain operating as standalone entities.
Though the details of the acquisition have not been revealed, Hairydog has announced that in order to ensure a smooth transition, Damien Smith, the former Chief Technology Officer at BoozeBud, has now become part of the Hairydog team.
Today’s announcement urged readers to stay tuned for more updates as ‘BoozeBud embarks on its invigorating new journey under the Hairydog umbrella.’
BoozeBud will be relaunched this weekend with a series of promotions according to Agar. “To celebrate the return of BoozeBud and its new beginning, we have lined up a series of compelling promotions that we believe will thrill our customers and provide them with an unmatched shopping experience” he said.
