Catch Group has secured a new 22,000sqm warehouse near its current facilities in Truganina, Melbourne.

On Wednesday, Catch announced its acquisition of a second warehouse that will add to the company’s existing 26,000sqm facility. According to the business, the extra space will provide the online marketplace with enough operational capacity to cater for the next five years of growth.
“Catch Group has been experiencing significant growth over the last two years, as we continue to expand our product offering and grow our marketplace,” said Nati Harpaz, the CEO and managing director of Catch Group.
“[This announcement] is a direct result of the increasing demand for our services, providing our highly engaged customer base great value on quality brands every day.”
The new facility reportedly makes use of mezzanine flooring, which adds an addition 5,00sqm of space to the building’s 22,000, as well as some of the latest logistics tech. Among the automated technology that workers will have access to is the KNAPP multi-shuttle robotic system. This automated storage system helps to efficiently store a large amount of stock in as little space as possible. Catch hopes the integration of this technology will help warehouse workers fulfil customer orders within best practice delivery times.
According to Harpaz, the new facilities will also give Catch a chance to expand its product range, without impeaching on its storage and fulfilment capabilities.
“The new warehouse will allow us to continue to expand the range of products we offer through in-stock and widen several categories such as pantry and fast-moving consumer groups.
“The Catch customer expects us to tick all the boxes – great prices, well-known brands, as well as fast delivery, and with this warehouse, we will continue to meet our customer needs for the next few years,” he said.
Catch Group has reportedly been through a rapid growth period over the course of 2018, which led to the company’s decision to expand its facilities. Presently, Catch offers 35,000 SKUs from its own stock stored in its warehouse, and ships in excess of 10,000 parcels per day during busy periods.
The new warehouse is expected to be operational by January 2019, but no new staff will be hired until the business deems its growth sufficient enough to get extra hands on deck.
