Catch’s New Sydney Warehouse Backs the E-Com Boom
Catch has announced the launch of its new warehouse in Sydney, to support the growth of online retail over the last year. This is the first fulfilment centre outside of Victoria.
According to Australia Post, after an online growth of 57 percent YoY for the e-commerce industry, online purchases have exceeded $50.4 billion. Furthermore, the Wesfarmers’s-owned Catch recorded strong growth in its HY21 results with a gross transaction value growth of 95.6 percent and more than 2.9 million Active Customers in its database.
The warehouse is expected to reach 36,000 square metres in size and located in Moorebank in southwest Sydney. Much like the other warehouses in the area, this FC will facilitate faster fulfilment for residents in NSW and Queensland.
“We are thrilled to be opening our first fulfilment centre in New South Wales, expanding our national footprint and helping our customers get the products they need when they need them, right across Australia,” shares Pete Sauerborn, the Managing Director of Catch. “The Sydney fulfilment centre will allow us to serve customers more quickly and efficiently, particularly in New South Wales and Queensland.”
This FC will feature ‘high-value’ advanced manufacturing, robotics and intelligent systems jobs and will be the “most technologically sophisticated centre to date,” Sauerborn explained. “We are thrilled to be able to create high-tech jobs of the future while building, operating and maintaining the state-of-the-art facility that will enable Aussie shoppers to receive their purchases more efficiently, reliably and quickly than ever before.” The FC will be completed by Q1 2022.
