AusPost Prepares for “Biggest Event on E-Com Calendar”: Click Frenzy
One of the largest online sales events of the year is only a few hours away – Click Frenzy. As Aussie shoppers prepare for the best deals on the platform, Australia Post is prepping for its own frenzy.
Australia Post will be ramping up its delivery services in the wake of Click Frenzy – which begins at 7 pm tonight and runs for 53 hours.
In a statement from the leading postal service, online shopping remains ‘steady’ despite traditional retail returning to normal in a post-pandemic world. According to a recent Trajectory report from Power Retail, online sales have started to slow compared to the ‘unprecedented’ growth experienced last year. But this doesn’t mean that e-commerce sales are in danger of becoming stagnant or in decline – in fact, Australia is continuing to experience month-on-month growth.
“Year after year, online shopping events such as Click Frenzy continue to gain popularity and we know that many shoppers are waiting to grab winter bargains for the home and family from tonight,” said Ben Franzi, the Australia Post General Manager Parcel and Express Services. “Click Frenzy has now become one of the biggest events on the e-commerce calendar, and shoppers will have been holding out to take advantage of the great deals on offer over the next few days.”
With more retailers taking part in the online sales event than ever before, this is going to be a big week in Australian e-commerce, Franzi commented. This year’s Mayhem event will see the likes of the Good Guys, Catch, Adidas, L’Oreal and Kogan taking part, with some deals starting early from other retailers.
Australia Post has reported that online shopping participation has remained steady, even as brick and mortar stores re-open and return to almost pre-pandemic levels of popularity. In fact, there is a ‘similar’ number of households that are shopping online at a regular rate compare to the same period last year – the height of COVID-19 lockdown measures in the country.
“E-commerce growth for the 12-months to the end of March topped 56 percent, and throughout the month over 5.1 million households bought online – a significant increase from the pre-pandemic level,” he said. “At the same time, our people continue to work incredibly hard to deliver unprecedented volumes of parcels for the community, including the more than 2000 posties who have moved into vans.”
Click Frenzy will begin at 7 pm on Tuesday, 18th May and runs for 53 hours. You can find out more about the event here.
