Coles Launches flypay to Unify and Reward Online Shopping
Coles is launching flypay in partnership with flybuys to help customers 'seamlessly' pay for products and collect points online.
The payment method is available at selected retailers, and allows consumers to have detail automatically filled in when shopping via participating flybuy retailers.
This initiative aims to make online shopping ‘faster, easier and more secure’.
“Coles is committed to helping our customers shop more easily anytime, anywhere, and we are thrilled to introduce flypay as a payment option for customers shopping at any of our online liquor retailers,” said George Saoud, Chief Executive Officer Emerging Businesses at Coles.
“We know how much our customers love flybuys, and we won’t make it easier for them to get rewards every time they shop. By checking out with flypay at eligible flybuys partner retailers, they automatically receive their points without needing to re-enter their card details, ensuring a convenient, efficient and great value shop.”
The platform was developed by Coles and Bell Identification B.V., a Visa solution.
The flypay solution will be available for consumers shopping on the Coles Liquor sites, including Liquorland, First Choice Liquor and Vintage Cellars.
However, Vintage Cellars is not a flybuys partner. Flybuys has disclosed that customers can pay using the flypay platform, but they will not be able to collect any flybuys points.
The overriding reason for this launch was to integrate the rewards system online and improve the online shopping experience.
“At flybuys, we’re committed to improving our members’ shopping experience and making it easier to be rewarded. That’s why we’ve partnered with Coles on flypay; it simplifies the online checkout process and allows flybuys points to be awarded on eligible purchases using flypay when shopping with our flybuys partners,” said John Merakovsky, the CEO of flybuys.
Flybuys is Australia’s leading loyalty program, with more than 10 million customers.
“With Australians increasingly shopping online and on-the-go, enabling convenient and secure ways to pay is more important than ever. flypay creates a seamless experience for shoppers, leveraging Bell Identification B.V’s Vaultify Shop solution to enhance the way Australians pay,” said Dan Parson, the Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific at Visa.
What does the future of payments look like? Will there be a unified payment platform for retailers in the future?
