Designerex and Australia Post Launch ‘Innovative’ Shipping Solution for Online Marketplaces
It's another win for the ever-growing fashion circular economy as Designerex and Australia Post announces an innovative shipping solution for online marketplaces.
The two businesses are joining forces with Australia Post to create a cutting-edge tech-based E-Com postal solution. This partnership includes a first-ever pre-paid Express Post label, auto-populated with send and return details, which is generated via API in real-time.
These pre-paid Express Post labels will be sent to all Designerex users. Moreover, these labels will be downloadable for both sides of the marketplace, available to both Renters and Dress Lenders.
The Australian peer-to-peer online marketplace was founded by Costa Koulis and Kirsten Kore in 2015. It currently has more than 800 brands under its belt and houses more than 6,000 users, available in Australia and the US.
“With listings from over 6,000 dress owners, this means there are over 6,000 different distribution points, and with every unique booking on Designerex having dynamic delivery addresses, traditional ecommerce shipping products were not equipped to service the fast-growing trend of marketplaces,” said Koulis on the partnership.
This idea was born out of a collaboration with the Founders of Designerex, Shane Lenton of Unified Commerce and Australia Post’s Marc Gauci and Chelsea O’Reilly. Shane Lenton, Chief Information and Digital Officer of CUE and Founder of Unified Commerce, joined the Designerex board as an Advisory Board Member in March 2021.
Chelsea O’Reilly, GM Solutions and Partners at Australia Post, said that this partnership between Designerex and Australia Post would give its customers access to the business’ ‘unrivalled network’, creating a ‘seamless experience’ for users around the country.
“This partnership with Designerex reinforces Australia Post’s role as an enabler of e-commerce, with a new model and peer-to-peer platform that is all about ease of convenience of lodgement that creates a great customer experience,” O’Reilly said.
“Further, with Australia Post’s focus on sustainability, we’re delighted to be partnering with a home-grown business that not only encourages fashion sustainability and the reduction of garment waste, but in fact their whole business model only supports circularity.”
