E-COMMERCE TIME MACHINE: Chemist Warehouse
Famous for its loud branding and discounted pricing, Chemist Warehouse is the country's largest pharmacy retail chain. Founded in 2000, it's a recognisable retailer thanks to its bright yellow, red and blue colour scheme. But what about its e-commerce platform? Has it been the same the whole way through, or will we see experimentation over the decades? Jump into the e-commerce time machine to find out!
There are more than 350 stores across Australia and introduced an online platform relatively early in its business journey. But what did it look like? Did it instantly adopt its iconic colour scheme, or did it ease into it?
It seems that most retailers stuck to a safe platform during the mid ‘000s, before jumping into the deep end and experimenting with branding, features and innovations. Chemist Warehouse followed this, with its platform from 2005 to 2008 not deviating from a non-shoppable e-commerce platform. It wasn’t until the early 2010s that we saw an injection of the iconic colour palette that we know and love today.
