eBay Appoints New Chief Marketing Officer

Australia’s largest online marketplace has announced the appointment of Julie Nestor as the new Chief Marketing Officer.

Nestor, who comes from the Vice Presidency role of Consumer Marketing at American Express, has more than 20 years of experience in both Australia and Hong Kong. It is hoped she will drive new results for the marketplace through a focus on loyalty, partnerships and personalisation. In a time where eBay now has to compete with Amazon, this is needed more than ever.

eBay’s Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Tim MacKinnon has commented on the strategic move by the company, “We’re excited to welcome Julie to eBay. Julie brings a wealth of experience in consumer marketing, loyalty, payments ad in partnering with Australian retailers.”

Forty thousand local businesses are signed up to eBay, and 11.8 million Australian shoppers use the platform monthly, but Nestor is ready to take on a new challenge, “I’m looking forward to working closely with the eBay leadership team to help 40,000 Australian retailers grow their businesses.”

With an exciting year in online marketplaces with the arrival of Amazon, Nestor will certainly have her work cut out for her, the excitement around Australian retail is palpable, “there’s never been a more exciting time in Australian retail for businesses and consumers alike,” Tim Mackinnon has remarked.
