One of Australia’s largest online fashion retailers, The Iconic, is trialling one-hour delivery at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA), as a signal of its continued investment in logistics.

The Iconic is the official partner of Australia’s 2018 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Fashion Weekend Edition, which according to the company, is the perfect time to trial its one-hour delivery service at Carriageworks.

“We’re thrilled to be trialling one-hour delivery at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and Weekend Edition; two of the biggest industry and consumer events on the fashion calendar,” Patrick Schmidt, The Iconic’s CEO said.

Running from Monday May 14 to Saturday  May 19, attendees at the industry-only MBFWA event will be able to shop from the fashion retailer’s ‘Designer Edit’ on the website, where they can order what they want and then pick it up from The Iconic’s dedicated concierge hub at Carriageworks, for free, within the hour.

“Faster delivery is something we know our customers want and we’re determined to enable it,” Schmidt said. “At The Iconic, we work hard to continuously build the shopping experience of the future; pushing the boundaries with a one-hour delivery service that could soon become a reality is just one of the ways we’re testing how to make our customers lives easier.”

Included in the ‘Designer Edit’ collection that’s available during the trial are key styles from a selection of Australian designers that will be showcased during the weeklong event, including the likes of Romance Was Born, Alice McCall, and Michael Lo Sordo, to name a few.

This trial is part of The Iconic’s commitment to spending $100 million on logistics, and an expansion of its fulfilment centre over the next five years. The MBFWA trial is being used as a benchmark for the company to develop its future delivery services, as it strives to continue supplying customers across Australia and New Zealand with the best possible shopping experience.

In April last year, The Iconic moved to a bigger fulfilment centre in response to increasing consumer demands and in preparation for its forecasted growth by 2020 and beyond. The company is confident it’s on the right path to reach its earlier goals of 2020 growth, as Schmidt told the media earlier this month that he expects the company to make its maiden profit in 2018, projecting profits of $1 billion over the next three years.

Schmidt has attributed the company’s strong outlooks to its earlier investments in its automated distribution and fulfilment centre and plans to use these facilities to expand its service offerings and drive the company towards the future.

“Ensuring our customers have the latest and most convenient shopping innovations at their fingertips is a huge focus for us, so we can’t wait to see how the trial goes,” he said.

One-hour delivery will be available from 10 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday and between 3 pm and 8 pm on Saturday, exclusively for MBFWA attendees.
