Custom menswear retailer, InStitchu is expanding its bricks-and-mortar presence by opening a new showroom in Adelaide.

The Australian menswear retailer comes from pureplay roots but has followed in the footsteps of a number of Australian brands embracing traditional retail opportunities, after opening nine showrooms across Australia, New Zealand, and North America.

According to InStitchu, the Adelaide location was chosen because data revealed there was a high-demand for the brand’s product and service offerings among local residents, which was determined, in part, by the successful operation of a micro pop-up trial that operated in 2017.

The new showroom is expected to act as an extension of InStitchu’s online offerings, with a fully-integrated omnichannel model in place that will allow consumers to save their details to their personal shopping profile, which they can use to re-order their in-store purchases online, or to create a suit of their choosing via the website with their in-store details.

According to the businesses co-founders, Robin McGowan and James Wakefield, the InStitchu brand was developed with quality and fit in mind, as well as filling in a gap in the menswear industry for affordable and personalised attire.

“We were just two young guys fresh out of university entering the banking and property world and quickly realised there wasn’t much on offer in the way of quality, custom-made suits at an accessible price point,” McGowan told Broadsheet Media in an interview last year.

The duo believes the new Adelaide shopfront is the next step towards making their product more accessible to their customer-base.

InStitchu is just one of many formerly pureplay retailers opening the doors of new physical store locations, with Vision Direct also opening its flagship Australian store in Melbourne this week.

The new showroom is located in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD at 92-96 Flinders Street, and is accepting bookings for suit fittings.
