John Winning Wins Retail Executive of the Year
Founder of Appliances Online and CEO of Winning Group, John Winning has been awarded Retail Executive of the Year at this year’s 2018 Executive of the Year awards.
Winning, who is well-known for his outspoken nature and ethos of providing a ‘winning’ service to all of his customers, has taken out the coveted Retail Executive of the Year award at The CEO Magazine’s annual executive awards.
Held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on Wednesday night, Winning became the seventh executive to win the award at the annual event.
Taking to LinkedIn, Winning said he’s humbled by the recognition and thankful for his team for making Appliances Online and Winning Group the successful businesses they are today.
“Absolutely humbled to win The CEO Magazine’s Retail Executive of the Year last night,” he wrote. “Thanks so much to The CEO Magazine for this incredible honour and to my team for making this all possible, as none of it would be achievable without all of them,” he continued.
He also took a moment to congratulate all the winners and finalists. “Last night goes to show that we have so many incredible executives throughout Australia and have so much to look forward to with their leadership paving the way for a successful future.”
Winning was also in the running for CEO of the Year but came in second place behind, Mark Nielson, the APAC CEO and executive director of Talent International, who received the accolade.
The awards night was hosted by Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur, with Lorna Jane Clarkson, founder and chief creative officer at Lorna Jane, and last year’s CEO of the Year winner, Michael Ebeid from Telstra among the panel of judges.
CEO and Co-Founder of The CEO Magazine Chris Dutton said: “I’m thrilled that this year’s Executive of the Year Awards exceeded all our expectations. We saw a record number of applications, a record level of brilliance and our biggest attendance numbers to date with more than 600 guests joining us at the ICC Sydney to celebrate the individuals behind some of Australia’s top business brands.
