Justin Hillberg is “Moving On” from SurfStitch and Alquemie Group
SurfStitch's Managing Director, Justin Hillberg, is leaving the brand after nearly eight years in the role. He will also depart his role in Alquemie Group.
Starting out as the Merchandise Manager in 2014, Hillberg has worked with SurfStitch for nearly eight years, holding various roles within the business before becoming Managing Director from 2018 to 2019, then again in 2020.
In a statement released via email, Hillberg explained that his last day would be Friday, 3rd December.
“While leaving was a difficult decision, the timing for an exit feels right for me and the business,” he said. “The Alquemie Group remains in a very strong position with exciting plans for the future and a strong executive team that is focused on delivering growth. I want to thank you for your support over the past eight years and wish you all the best into the future. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with a lot of great brands, and met a lot of fantastic people over the years and this has made my time here that much more enjoyable and rewarding, thank you,” he said.
In August 2021, Kerry Cusack was appointed General Manager at SurfStitch, as it prepared for the next phase of its business growth. “The 2021 Financial Year was a transformational and pivotal year for SurfStitch and the team has created a solid profitable base we can now build on. The focus for SurfStitch from here is consolidating the success of 2021 and achieving meaningful growth into 2022 and beyond,” he said in a statement earlier in the year.
Justin Hillberg became Managing Director Shared Servies at Alquemie Group in mid-2021, where he was responsible for developing strategies for the new Shared Services division. This includes the restructuring of SurfStitch, transitioning teams from SurfStitch to Alquemie Group and onboard9ing, among other things.
“We’re entering an important period for Alquemie Group as we continue to navigate the impact of the pandemic, including ongoing lockdowns, whilst we also continue to explore growth opportunities, both organic and acquisitions,” he said in August 2021. “SurfStitch is a key part of the Alquemie Group, and we appreciate the important role our partners play in helping us achieve continued success.”
