David Jones Adds Luxury Re-Sale to its Catalogue
David Jones is the next retailer to jump on the resale bandwagon, with the launch of its new partnership with Blue Spinach.
We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: we’re currently in the midst of a vintage renaissance. Now, David Jones is adding its name into the mix.
David Jones is supporting the circular fashion cycle with this new platform, which will sell designer goods from brands including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Celine, Prada and Fendi, among others.
This collection is sure to attract the lovers of designer and luxury goods, especially with the younger generations, who have welcomed the re-sale category with open arms.
The Mindfully Made edit is in conjunction with David Jones and Blue Spinach to support and encourage the circular fashion cycle and reduce wastage in the industry.
From today (October 5th), shoppers will have access to more than 30 items from the leading designer and luxury brands. Products will be frequently refreshed with ‘one-off, hard-to-find and popular’ pieces. Its flagship Elizabeth Street store will also house the re-sale products from early 2022.
This isn’t the first time that David Jones has introduced an earth-friendly collection. In July 2020, the retailer launched its Mindfully Made platform to highlight its ‘commitment to sustainability’.
“We’re proud to introduce re-sale as a core pillar to our Mindfully Made edit, and we know our customers will be excited to shop pre-loved designer items at David Jones,” said Elise Bishop, the Head of Sustainability at David Jones
Blue Spinach is a Sydney-based re-sale company founded in 1996 that has a philosophy centred around the quality and longevity of designer and luxury pieces.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with David Jones and welcome a national audience to the luxury re-sale market to continue the lifecycle of luxury goods,” shared Jane Thompson, the Co-Founder of Blue Spinach. “As a reseller of pre-loved luxury items, we are committed to not only providing the highest quality consignment services, but also to practices that are ethically and environmentally responsible.”
“Re-sale of preowned designer pieces is gaining momentum globally, and we are thrilled to introduce luxury items through this model to our customers,” shared Bridget Veals, the General Manager of Womenswear, Footwear and Accessories at David Jones. “Blue Spinach joins our extensive range of international fashion and extends the life of high quality, authentic luxury pieces that are often hard to find.
“We are dedicated to offering our customers choice in how they shop, and the introduction of re-sale is a further expansion to our range of services which includes personal shopping, fashion rental, tailoring and virtual services,” Veals continued.
