ORIAs Return to Celebrate Australia’s Online Retail Superstars
The Online Retail Industry Awards return in 2012 to celebrate Australia’s finest retailers. Be recognised as an industry leader and open up new opportunities for your business by entering your website for the Awards.
As the Australian online retail industry goes from strength to strength, the Online Retail Industry Awards (ORIAs) return to celebrate and highlight those businesses that are innovating and excelling in this field.
Honouring the leading retailing performers across varying categories spanning e-commerce, previous ORIA winners have included major multichannel players such as Dick Smith, Sportsgirl, BIG W and ABC Shop to upstart pureplay businesses including Appliances Online, SurfStitch, StyleTread and Joe Button.
The ORIAs not only provide a standard for retailers to strive for online, but establish an important focus on what constitutes best practice and excellence within the local industry. This is highlighted by Acting Head of Multi-Channel Retail at Dick Smith, Steve Church:
“The ORIAs have given the Dick Smith Online team a tangible reference of our customers and how we can always strive to improve and do better to exceed their expectations of our business. Internally the award has provided all the online businesses across the Woolworths Group with a focal point for excellence and set a goal for future achievement and recognition in this space.”
“The award has also been a popular talking point across the business,” he shares. “Demonstrating the value of the ORIAs to the company, our GM physically carried the trophies around with her for the first two weeks after we won!”
Patrick Terrell, former Director of Marketing, SurfStitch concurs, “The ORIAs have been instrumental in raising the bar for Australian retailers to achieve more. Winning these awards has spurred us to continue to innovate and remain at the forefront of the Australian e-commerce landscape.”
In recognition of e-commerce proliferating beyond the computer screen to mobile devices, a new category for Best Mobile Commerce Site/Application has been added to the ORIA categories this year. Judging of this category will focus on singling out the entry with the most efficient design, that has effectively used technology, strategy and innovation in order to optimise usability and the path to purchase.
“Year after year, the ORIA Award entries provide amazing examples of how quickly Australian online retailers are building the enterprises of tomorrow. In 2012, there will be no clearer example of this than the current explosion of mobile commerce, which is why we are delighted to add this category to the awards,” says Steven Noble, and Senior Analyst at Forrester Research and returning Chair of the ORIA judging panel.
Capping off Asia Pacific’s largest e-commerce event, the Online Retailer Conference & E-Commerce Expo, the ORIAs will culminate in a gala presentation on Wednesday, 18 July 2012, to be held at the spectacularly picturesque new location of Doltone House in Pyrmont, Sydney. Always popular, this gala event will be the single biggest networking and social gathering of local and international retail glitterati!
