Shoes of Prey to Open in Westfield, Bondi Junction

With a physical presence already in place within David Jones, Shoes of Prey is seeking to expand its footprint with a Bondi Junction outlet.

Traditionally referred to as a pure play – or online-only retailer – Shoes of Prey first became a well known web destination for bespoke ladies footwear long before it had bricks-and-mortar aspirations. However, following the success of its David Jones experiment, the brand is preparing to open up shop in Bondi Junction’s Westfield mall.

The news broke after Shoes of Prey began advertising for someone to fill the position of retail store manager and shoe stylist for a new Bondi Junction outlet.

Jodie Fox, Co-founder of Shoes of Prey, has told BRW that the plans for a new store come as a result of the brand’s success with David Jones. She also points to the success of other online-only to omnichannel retail start-ups popping up in the US.

“I’m in New York City at the moment and really seeing such a trend in heading offline with Warby Parker, Bonobos, Birchbox and Bauble Bar,” she said. “There is great proof here that supports our thought that retailers need to be wherever their consumers need them to be.”

The news follows the announcement that the Shoes of Prey team is currently seeking a further $5 million in funding from aligned investors, having previously raised $4.5 million from investors including Atlassian Co-founder, Mike Cannon-Brookes.
