November Largest Month in Aus Online Shopping History, AusPost Reports
Another record has been broken, Australia Post is reporting. The courier service has recorded the largest month in online shopping history, marking more than 21 million parcels delivered across the sales period.
A report from Australia Post suggests that online shopping was up 13 percent this year compared to 2020. This is up a whopping 79 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
“With many cyber sales starting sooner than last year people have been able to snap up online deals for longer than just those traditional four big days from Black Friday,” said Ben Franzi, the Australia Post General Manager, Parcel & Express Services.
“We’re working hard in what’s still a challenging environment, with our delivery teams managing to get almost a million parcels a day to front doors across NSW alone on December 1 and December 2, and we’ve got our delivery people and processing around the country working around the clock, as we head into a busy Christmas.”

Pet Products and Tools & Garden were both up over 21 percent YoY, Footwear was up 17.8 percent and Fashion Accessories increased by 12.4 percent YoY. Beauty has also seen an increase of 10.1 percent.
There has been a 15 percent increase in air freight moved by Australia Post over Cyber Weekend compared to last year. In fact, more than 444 tonnes of parcels were transported via 21 aeroplanes on the busiest day, which was Cyber Monday. Moreover, more than 2.8 million parcels were lodged, making it the biggest day for parcels entering the network.
