UPDATED: Online Retailers Lending a Helping Hand this Bushfire Season

Australia is in a state of crisis - the bushfire season is one of the worst that the country has experienced in history, and it shows no signs of improving. Here are some of the online retailers who are directly supporting those in need this bushfire season.

We are giving a massive shout out to those businesses who’ve set aside a focus on sales and profits to focus on what matters most – helping aid the Australian community as we endure the most horrific of times, There are many retailers in Australia that are taking this opportunity to spread awareness and send refuge to those affected by the ravaging fires throughout the country.

    1. ModelCo

      The beauty retailer is sending 100 percent of all online sales made on January 6th to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and WIRES Wildlife Rescue. “Our hearts go out to everyone in our communities affected by the devastating bushfires 💔 For 24 hours we will be donating 100% of all profits made in online sales to the @nswrfs and @wireswildliferescue to assist with bushfire relief. Thank you for your support,” the retailer wrote on Instagram.

    2. The Daily Edited

      For 24 hours, The Daily Edited will donate 100 percent of online sales to bushfire relief. All online sales will be donated to NSW Rural Fire Service, Salvation Army Australia and CFA Victoria. “Been eyeing something off from our range? For the next 24 hours we are donating our entire online sales, all proceeds, not just profits, not just a percentage to @nswrfs @cfavic @salvosau,” the Instagram post read.

    3. LIL and EMM

      The online swimwear retailer, LIL and EMM, will be donating 100 percent of all online sales to New South Wales Rural Fire Service and WIRES Wildlife Rescue. “Let’s continue to share, support and donate – every dollar helps people that are left with nothing, people mourning loved ones, wildlife, residents and injured fire fighters 😔,” LIL × EMM wrote in an Instagram post.

    4. Cheese Celebrations

      According to its website, Cheese Celebrations will donate 100 percent of online profits to NSW Rural Fire Services & NSW Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service until Sunday 12th June 2020. “Our hearts are broken 💔for this natural disaster that is devastating Australia 🇦🇺 🙏Please help us by purchasing any of our beautiful 🧀cheese hamper, platter or grazing selection along with personal contribution we will be donating 100% profit to support our amazing firefighters👩🏻‍🚒👨🏻‍🚒 @nswrfs and @wireswildliferescue to support injured and displaced wildlife🐨🦘.
      Every little help will be forever grateful,” the brand wrote on Instagram.

    5. Sister Studios

      The women’s retailer will be donating 40 percent of all online and in-store sales to Fire relief fund for First Nations people. “So much respect to fire fighters and volunteers defending houses and land. There is amazing outreach happening around the country and Red Cross have advised that cash donations are best at this stage because of the blocked areas experiencing fire – which makes transporting goods difficult to communities.
      This weekend is going to be another hot one so put out water for animals, keep in touch with loved ones in affected areas and check on any vulnerable neighbours, we need to look after each other,” the label wrote on its Instagram.

    6. Atoir

      The retailer promises to donate 100 percent of all online sales to The Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief. “The devastation is beyond horrific. Feeling completely helpless but every little bit will help us fight for what’s left and re-build what’s gone. 100% of ALL profits in January via online sales will be donated to The Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief” the brand wrote on its Instagram page.

    7. ksubi

      The retailer is donating 100 percent of all online sales to the NSW Rural Fire Service over the weekend. “OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY THE BUSHFIRE CRISIS IN AUSTRALIA. KSUBI WILL DONATE 100% OF ALL PROFITS FROM ONLINE SALES THIS WEEKEND TO @nswrfs FOR ALL THE VITAL WORK THEY DO ❤️ KSUBI CREW,” the Instagram post read.

    8. Cheaper Buy the Dozen

      The Australian online wine retailer pledges to donate $7.50 from every case sold to the St Vincent de Paul Society. “We challenge all businesses to get on board and donate proceeds from their sales as well. Thank you to all emergency services and volunteers for your sacrifice and bravery,” the company wrote on its site.

    9. Ernest and Joe

      The Geelong-based online retailer has raised more than $70,000 from profits of its ‘Three Trees’ handmade jewellery line to various bushfire relief funds, including the CFA. “This is a terrifying time in our Country and we need to rally together and show our support. The most needed thing at the moment is money so please dig deep and donate what you can xx,” the company shared on Instagram.

    10. Ally Fashion

      The women’s retailer has donated 100 percent of the profits of its canvas bag tote range to the NSW Rural Fire Service. “As part of our ongoing initiative to support our local communities & heroic firefighters, we’re donating 100% Of Sales (Online & Instore) from our Canvas Tote range to support the Bushfire Relief. Proceeds will be donated to NSW Rural Fire Services. Our thoughts are with everyone who is affected by the devastating bushfires. Australia needs us. Let’s help together!,” explained the company via Instagram.

    11. Boody

      The eco-wear company has donated $10,000 to WIRES and Australian Red Cross Bushfire Relief and Recovery. “There really are no words to express how heartbroken we are. Watching the ongoing bushfire crisis unfold here in Australia has been simply devastating. We have a responsibility as a company with influence to help. We hope this encourages others to donate what they can, or if not in a position to donate, to donate time, or simply talk about the issues. Education can have the biggest impact,” the company shared via Instagram.

    12. Amazon

      Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, has announced it will be pledging $1 million to aid those affected by bushfires. “Our hearts go out to all Australians as they cope with these devastating bushfires. Amazon is donating 1 million AU dollars in needed provisions and services,” Bezos said via Instagram.

    13. JAX Tyres

      JAX Tyres is pledging a $55,000 donation to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Relief and Recovery Fund. In addition, the retailer will donate $10 for every Laufenn, Pirelli or Mickey Thompson tyres sold.  “As devastating bushfires continue to impact Australians, their properties, our environment and animals at an unprecedented rate, JAX Tyres customers and store teams around the country have come together in the past six weeks and helped to raise over $55,000 for the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. In January, JAX Tyres will continue to contribute by donating $10 for every set of Laufenn, Pirelli or Mickey Thompson tyres sold, to the Red Cross initiative,” the company wrote in a statement.

    14. Yellow Octopus

      The online retailer is selling a range of limited-edition range of novelty mugs, featuring Australian animals. Twenty percent of the sales will go to the Wildlife Victoria Bushfire Appeal. “The loss of Australian wildlife has been devastating for everyone, and we wanted to find our own unique way to help that might also cheer people up,” explained Derek Sheen, Founder of Yellow Octopus, in a statement.

Retailers Doing Their Bit:

Many Australian retailers have donated money to those affected by the bushfires, as well as increased volunteer leave, some of which include:

  1. Country Road Group

    Country Road Group: Witchery, Country Road, Trenery, Politix and Mimco have donated $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. “Our thoughts are with every Australian affected by the devastating bushfires. The fires are burning across all states and are severely impacting lives, communities, livelihoods and wildlife. We’re thinking of you all. Country Road Group; Country Road, Mimco, Witchery, Trenery and Politix, recently donated $100,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund to help communities that are suffering,” the company wrote on its LinkedIn.

  2. Spell

    The retailer donated $20,000 to the CFA (Country Fire Association). “I am astounded by all the giving that I’m witnessing, both monetary and also in non perishables that are gravely needed by our fire fighting teams and also those who have lost everything. 🙏🏽 TODAY WE ARE DONATING AN EXTEA (sic) $3500 to @cfavic, to bring our total donations to $20,000 ♥️ But we also want to create a way for our beautiful Spell community to come together to raise funds,” the brand shared via Instagram.

  3. Bared Footwear

    The shoe retailer donated $15,000 to the Salvation Army. “In response to the devastating fires across our beautiful country, we have donated $15,000 to @salvosau to support the amazing work they are doing on the ground. If you are looking for ways to help, here’s where you can donate to those in need. Every little bit counts,” the company shared in an Instagram post.

  4. Mecca

    The Aussie beauty retailer donated $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. “Our hearts are breaking and our thoughts are with everyone who is affected by the devastating bushfires. On behalf of all our team members, MECCA has pledged $100,000 to the @redcrossau bushfire recovery and relief fund, and we will continue to support our communities through the recovery process. We are proud to be part of a community that supports each other when it matters most,” the company shared on its LinkedIn.

  5. The Bodyshop

    The Bodyshop donated $25,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

  6. Glassons

    The Aussie women’s retailer has donated $60,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. “We are devastated by the Australian bushfires, that are bringing so much heartache to this beautiful country. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected. On behalf of the Glassons team we have donated $60,000 to the Australian Red Cross @redcrossau, to support the Disaster Relief and Recovery for those victims of the fires,” the company shared via Instagram.

  7. David Jones

    The veteran Aussie retailer has donated $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. “Devastating bushfires are burning across the nation, significantly impacting lives, communities, livelihoods, and our wildlife. Our beautiful country needs our support now more than ever.
    We recently made a donation of $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund, which helps Australian communities cope with and recover from disasters. Along with our Country Road Group family, we’re also working with our charity partners to look for additional ways to support the community in the face of this crisis, the department store shared via Instagram.

  8. L’Oreal Australia

    L’Oreal Australia is pledging $100,000 for victims of the bushfires and emergency services. The company will also double its Volunteer Leave program to four days. “The entire L’Oréal Australia team has watched horrified alongside our fellow Australians and the world, as the disaster has unfolded over the past months and we are desperately sorry for those impacted by the fires. On behalf of our employees, L’Oréal Australia is donating $100,000 to help support the recovery mission. We are also donating products to those in need of everyday personal items. We have had an overwhelming response from our employees who are passionate about helping in any way they can. In 2020, we will be doubling our Volunteer Leave program, to provide our employees with four days of paid volunteer leave to support communities as they rebuild,” the company wrote on its Instagram.

  9. Adore Beauty

    The Australian online retailer is pledging $30,000 to two charities – $15,000 will go to Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund, $15,000 to WIRES Wildlife Rescue. Moreover, Adore Beauty is offering one-day volunteer leave for employees. “Like all Australians, we are heartbroken by the devastation that these bushfires are causing across our country. It’s just horrific and we want to help. All Adore Beauty staff will be given a paid day off to volunteer in the coming months to assist with the recovery effort,” the company shared on LinkedIn.

  10. Accent Group

    The footwear company is pledging $100,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. “Like everyone, we are deeply saddened by the devastating bushfires across Australia. On behalf of all of our team, the Accent Group is donating $100,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund and will continue to offer on-going support throughout the recovery process. We have also established an internal fundraising drive where our Team Members across all of our Brands are able to individually contribute,” the company shared via LinkedIn.

  11. Afterpay

    The Buy Now, Pay Later service is partnering with Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund to raise funds for the bushfire victims and displaced community. In addition, on Thursday, 9th January, the platform will donate $1 for every transaction made globally to the Red Cross, with a minimum pledge amount of $200,000. “As an Australian company, we are heartbroken over the devastating impact the bushfires are having on individuals, communities and wildlife around Australia and we want to help. So we have partnered with the Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund to raise funds that will go directly towards helping bushfire relief in affected areas, and we’re asking for your support. In addition, this Thursday we will donate A$1 for every transaction made globally to the Australian Red Cross, with a minimum pledge of A$200,000. That means, any purchase made through Afterpay this Thursday will be in support of bushfire recovery,” the company shared via LinkedIn.

  12. Mosaic Brands

    Mosaic Brands is donating $1 million worth of clothing and $50,000 to the St Vincent de Paul Bush Fire Appeal. “‘This is a sombre time for all of us and our thoughts are with those affected by the devastating bush fires raging throughout our beautiful country. Our team members and stores have strong relationships with their communities – especially in many of the regions affected by the bush fires – and we hope these donations will be of help to those who have suffered loss as they begin to rebuild their lives,” explained Scott Evans, Mosaic Brands’ CEO.

  13. The ARA and Good360

    The Australian Retailers Association is partnering with the charity, Good360, to collect surplus stock and goods from retailers and redistributing them to retailers affected by the bushfires. “The ARA and Good360 are partnering on a campaign to collect goods from retailers who haven’t been touched by bushfires to redistribute them to those who in some cases have lost everything,” Russel Zimmerman, the Executive Director of the ARA explained.     The Iconic has joined the All In campaign, an Australian Retail x Red Cross Bushfire Disaster and Recovery initiative. This involves the inclusion of two drop-off donation hubs at the Iconic’s CBD Headquarters and Western Sydney Fulfilment Centre and donating 100 percent of all profits to support affected communities with immediate financial assistance. “Like everyone across Australia and globally, we’re deeply saddened by the bushfires burning across our country and the devastating effect on communities, wildlife, our firefighters and the Australian landscape. Bushfire recovery is a complex and on-going issue that Australians will be grappling with for months – if not years – to come. We wanted to ensure that our approach provides assistance to those in need not just immediately via financial support, but in the difficult times ahead through a long-term solution that supports the urgent storage and fulfilment needs of various charity organisations,” explained Erica Berchtold, Chief Executive Officer for The Iconic.

  15. Winning Group

    Winning Group is pledging to donate $30,000 to NSW Rural Fire Service, the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery and the WIRES Inc Wildlife Rescue. “Like all Australians, I am devastated to see the impact that the bushfires are having on our land, our wildlife and our communities and I am extremely grateful to those who are bravely putting their lives on the line to fight the fires. With a long road ahead, it’s incredible to see the spirit and action demonstrated by so many Australians and people from across the world, helping out our communities when they need it most,” John Winning, CEO of Winning Group, shared on LinkedIn.

Retailers Going All In

All In is a campaign hosted by the Australian Retail and Red Cross Bushfire Disaster and Recovery Initiative. Over 30 retailers have joined the campaign to help those affected by the catastrophic bushfires, with a network of more than 1,000 stores. A collection of local and international retailers are banding together to donate goods, funds and support in these hard times.

“Next Thursday General Pants Co. will be donating all profits from our entire store network to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund. Whilst our contribution and the support of our customers will make a difference I want to ask you to join us to make this a much larger and more meaningful event. A National Retail Disaster Relief Initiative. Collectively we all can make a real difference if we do this together,” said Sacha Laing, the CEO of General Pants Group on LinkedIn.

“The size and scale of these fires in many parts of Australia is unprecedented. But so is the incredible wave of support we’ve seen from people and businesses around the country and overseas,” explained Belinda Dimovski, Head of Engagement and Support at Australian Red Cross.

UPDATE: All IN raised $780,000 for the Australian Retail and Red Cross Bushfire Disaster and Recovery Initiative.

These funds will go towards:

– Welcome people in evacuation centres and recovery hubs. Listening, comforting, making people’s wellbeing their number one priority.

– Locate missing loved ones through Red Cross’ Register.Find.Reunite service.

– Provide emergency grants to those who’ve lost their homes to fires this summer, to cover immediate and everyday expenses.

–  Stay long after the disaster has passed via 1:1 support as people recover, and resilience programs for the wider community.

– Provide ongoing training, education and community outreach in preparation for the next disaster, be it here in Australia or further afield.

    There is an online Australian company that is donating for a hole month $ 7.50 for every case of wine sold,and is encouraging every company in Australia to get onboard,how about promoting the little guy ?

    As a family business the entire team and family at Chiropedic Bedding were devastated to see so many families affected by the fires.

    Chiropedic have pledged to donate 100 New mattresses to the Victorian affected communities post-fire and will work with the Salvos to distribute these to the people most in need.

    Chiropedic will also donate $100 for every mattress sold from their best selling ‘Cloud 9 Range’ to the Victorian Government/Bendigo Bank/Salvos VIC Bushfire Disaster Appeal up until the 31st January.
