With millions of people across the world ditching their physical wallets, SAP Emarsys has dialled into the rise of digital wallets hosted in mobile phones.

Installed by default onto mobile phones, Apple Wallet and Google Wallet offer a huge engagement opportunity for retailers. These wallets enables the mobile users to save, store and use electronic bank cards, IDs, mobile passes in a highly secure and convenient way.

Dialling into this tech, SAP Emarsys’ Mobile Wallet enables retailers to reach its customers without the need of an app. Emarsys’ Mobile Wallet engagement allows users to deliver tickets, loyalty cards, and personalised coupons such as limited-time offers, BOGO promotions, or other one-time-use discounts that customers can add to their Apple or Google wallets on their phones, and use at the point of purchase.

With this new feature, SAP Emarsys aims to close the loop on the digital to in-store experience and drive engagement.

SAP Emarsys customer, popular Australian surf and streetwear store, City Beach has embraced Mobile Wallet. Customer Lifecycle Manager James Neill added, “Mobile is the one channel that’s always with the customer, so it is integral to our omnichannel approach. Mobile Wallet opens our reach to different age groups, which unlocks a whole new set of use cases to better connect our digital and in-store experiences. The inclusion of a digitalised wallet has expanded customer loyalty by personalising products and shopping experiences across generations. The result? Customers can stay loyal to their favourite brands wherever they’re at.”

According to the SAP Emarsys Customer Loyalty Index 2023, the top reason why shoppers are  loyal to a particular retailer is because they offer regular discounts, loyalty points and incentives. With 56 percent of shoppers confirming they are more loyal to retailers that offer discounts, incentives and rewards. 51 percent of shoppers show their loyalty by using a retailers loyalty program, and 40 percent of shoppers already have a loyalty card in their physical or digital wallet.

The SAP Emarsys Mobile Wallet enables users to send customers a loyalty pass that they can add directly to their mobile wallet, allowing for easy and convenient in-store identification, richer customer data, and frictionless customer experiences.

“Today’s savvy consumers won’t tolerate poor experiences or rewards that miss the mark. Earning their loyalty means deeply understanding what each individual values and delivering it at precisely the right time on the channel they prefer,” said Will Wilson, RVP, APJ at SAP Emarsys. “Our new Mobile Wallet functionality lets marketers uplevel their brand promise, giving them more ways to deliver the personalised, seamless experiences their customers expect.”

“Imagine checking out at your favourite store and simply pulling up your iPhone to pay with Apple Pay and there waiting for you in the palm of your hand, are the exact coupons and loyalty card you need in one place,” Wilson said. “SAP Emarsys Mobile Wallet makes this experience convenient and easy for marketers to implement and optimise, so the customer has the best possible shopping experience.”
