Scott Evans has been named as the new CEO of Alquemie Group just weeks after stepping down from the CEO role at Mosaic Brands.

Alquemie Group is a retail and consumer brands investment and growth platform, owning brands General Pant Co, LEGO Certified Stores, National Geographic, SurfStitch, and more.

Over the past 18 months, Alquemie Group has invested heavily in growth, expanding its physical store network with Evans set to lead the Group as it continues to expand into FY25.

Evans made headlines earlier this year with the announcement he would be stepping down from his role as CEO at Mosaic Brands after a decade with the company.

In his new role at Alquemie Group, Evans will be succeeding Sacha Laing. Laing steps down after five years as General Pants CEO and two years as Group CEO following the acquisition of the clothing brand in 2022. Sacha Laing comments: “I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the past 5 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my time at both General Pants and Alquemie.

“The Group is now going through a period of consolidation, leveraging the benefits of our investment in growth capital. With the timing of Scott’s availability, and having discussed it with Richard, we mutually feel now is the right time for change, enabling a continuity of leadership.”

Alquemie Group Executive Chairman and Founder, Richard Facioni, comments: “Having worked closely with Scott for the past 10 years, I’m genuinely excited to have someone of his calibre and experience join the Group and take the business forward.

“Sacha advised me some time ago of his desire to step down after an intensive 5 years in the role, which included navigating COVID, successfully managing the sale of General Pants to Alquemie, overseeing the integration of the two businesses, then managing a period of significant growth within a tough economic environment.”

Departing CEO Sacha Laing will remain with Alquemie until mid-April, with Scott Evans anticipated to pick up the role in June.

Scott Evans comments: “Alquemie’s focus on rapid growth complemented by its portfolio of strong retail brands makes this one of the most exciting leadership roles in the sector. I’m looking forward to working with Richard and the team on the next phase for the Group.”
