Sendle and Vestiaire Collective partner for sustainable luxury shopping
The homegrown shipping carrier and French luxury fashion resale platform have joined forces to provide Aussies with carbon neutral shopping.
Sendle has partnered with resale marketplace Vestiaire Collective to help more Australians shop sustainably, affordably, and exclusively with secondhand fashion and carbon neutral shipping.
Launched in 2014, Sendle is an Australian carrier specifically designed to serve the needs of small eCommerce businesses. They are a 100% carbon neutral shipping carrier. Merchants purchase a label and schedule a pickup from Sendle, and their package is picked up from their front door. The company has since expanded the US and Canada.
Sendle has partnered with fellow sustainability focused brand, Vestiaire Collective. The French company is an online marketplace where consumers can buy and sell authenticated pre-owned luxury fashion. Since launching in Paris in 2009, the platform has amassed over nine million members across 50 countries worldwide. In 2020, the company launched its platform to Australian shoppers motivated by sustainability, affordability and exclusivity.
The partnership will allow merchants and buyers to print labels and book deliveries through the Vestiaire platform. The partnership will support Vestiaire Collective’s further expansion in Australia and help more Australian shoppers to participate in the second hand fashion market and circular economy.
“Vestiaire Collective is the leading global app for exclusive pre-loved fashion created in 2009 with one mission: to transform the fashion industry for a more sustainable future,” said Dounia Wone, Chief Sustainability and Inclusion Officer at Vestiaire Collective. “We’re excited to partner with Sendle to offer more sustainable ways to use our platform to Australian shoppers”.
Recent research from Vestiaire Collective and the Boston Consulting Group estimated the value of the apparel, footwear and accessories resale market between $100 and $120 billion worldwide, more than three times the size it was in 2020. The resale market is worth 3% to 5% of the overall retail market and is estimated to grow as much as 40% as more shoppers look for ways to consume fashion sustainably.
“Sendle has been the preferred sustainable shipping partner for small businesses and side hustlers since 2014,” said Laura Hill, Managing Director at Sendle Australia. “We’re proud to partner with Vestiaire Collective to provide more sustainable shipping solutions to their customers and help more Australian shoppers to embrace the resale fashion market and change the way they buy, sell and ship their clothes.”
