Sendle has today announced the appointment of its new Chief Marketing Officer, as the Australian parcel delivery company prepares to move into a period of hypergrowth.

Eva Ross, former Marketing Operation and Strategy manager with AirBnb APAC, is no stranger to rapidly growing startups.

This move follows other recent, high-profile additions to the Sendle staff: Head of Growth Apurva Chiranewala joined the team from her role as Head of Shipping at eBay Australia, while Board member Helen Souness is former Managing Director of Etsy Australia.

In the three years since James Chin Moody and Craig Davis co-founded Sendle, the startup has become Australia’s top-rated courier service. This success is due to a number of bold moves and smart decisions, including straightforward international delivery options and partnerships with big-name companies such as eBay, Etsy, and Neto.

Davis, the previous CMO, will be staying on in a close advisory role, but Sendle says it will be Ross who ‘takes the marketing reins’.

‘Eva’s entrepreneurial spirit, expertise in navigating start-ups through fast growth periods, and her deep knowledge of domestic and international markets will be invaluable as we continue to expand Sendle in Australia and overseas,’ says Chin Moody.

Sendle assures customers that Ross will guide the company’s expansion without jeopardising its core values, ‘working in line with Sendle’s mission to champion choice for businesses at the smaller end of town and facilitating growth of homegrown e-commerce – which has now neared $200 million through Sendle.’

Though she’s stepping into a high-pressure role with a company on the rise, Ross isn’t intimidated. ‘Seeing what Craig and the team have achieved in three short years made my decision to join Sendle a very easy one,’ she says. ‘We are about to enter a period of unprecedented growth and I can’t wait to champion small business, a community that bustles with creativity and where the best ideas win.’

It may be a struggle to maintain a small business ethic while booming on both a national and international scale, but Sendle is the company that took on Australia Post and won.

‘Sendle’s unique business model has brought integrity and humanity to the parcel industry,’ says Ross. ‘Its fast expansion in Australia is proof that it “gets” what small business owners need to thrive. Growing a community of micro-entrepreneurs at Airbnb equipped me with an understanding of the challenges small businesses face and the support they need to carry out industry changing work.’

‘Sendle has achieved tremendous success in its first few years and all the building blocks are there for accelerated growth,’ says Davis. ‘It fills me with great pride that talented people like Eva want to join and make an impact above and beyond what we’ve built. With her creativity, experience and passion for the startup community, I am confident Eva will be instrumental in taking Sendle to new heights.’
