Winning Appliances’ Expansion Plans

In a landscape that's proving difficult to navigate for many retailers in the appliance industry, Winning Group has announced further expansion in Victoria and WA.

John Winning, Winning Group CEO, has announced it will be opening a flagship store in Victoria early next year. “Located at 540-546 Swan Street and amongst other prestigious brands, our Richmond showroom will provide Victorians with a unique and world-class shopping experience when purchasing their kitchen and laundry appliances,” he said at a recent conference.

The announcement followed the recent acquisition of Michael’s Appliance Centre in Brighton, Melbourne. “[O]ur new flagship Richmond showroom demonstrates our commitment to Victorians to provide them with our unmatched and unbiased service and unique multisensory shopping experience, which we are recognised for nationally,” he said.

The new 1,500 sqm Richmond showroom will become Winning Appliances’ 15th showroom and fifth flagship store, with national stores Australia-wide. A new showroom in Myaree (WA) is set to open next month.

The announcement comes just after Kogan launched its own whitegoods and built-in appliance range. Consumers can now purchase fridges, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, ovens, cooktops and range hoods directly though Kogan.com.

“It’s been a turbulent 12 months in business for all retailers,” Winning said in December last year. “Obviously the hype about Amazon’s arrival as well as how housing affordability and other economic factors has impacted consumer purchasing behaviour,” says Winning.

“As a business, we are proud of our accomplishments over the past year, including achieving double-digit sales growth each month,” he said at the time. “We also acquired workplace culture app Jobvibe, and both Appliances Online and Winning Appliances reached an industry high Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 80, a truly remarkable feat.”

The latest acquisitions and showroom announcements reflect continued growth and expansion for the Group.
